John Moores University has renewed it's agreement with Canterbury Belles Training, for the training of 1st year students, starting in October.
Liverpool Active City are planning to form a mixed Rounders league. There will be a meeting at The First National Wine Bar, on James St Liverpool, on October 13th at 5.30 pm. Representatives from teams and community groups, are invited to attend. There will also be a charity nominated for fund raising.
Helena Housing of St Helens, working with Canterbury Belles Training and community groups in four districts of St Helens hope to be successful in their bid for funding to deliver 96 sessions over 4 areas, including the training up of local residents to become qualified Rounders Coaches.
Mike Salla from the Liverpool Active City team, has embraced the idea of introducing Rounders as an alternative to football in the city. Mike can be contacted on 07590 601066.
Winter training will be starting very soon. You do not have to be a member of a team, you can be someone who is looking for a bit or sport / exercise. The venue is Archbishop Beck Training Centre. Mike Salla is the contact (above)
Canterbury Belles Training organised a Charity Rounders tournament at Sutton Park St Helens on August 26th, raising £350. The locals from the Bowling Green pub joined in the fun. A BBQ and entertainment followed. Thanks to Karl and Sue, mine hosts.

Helena Housing, in Mike's hometown, St Helens recently held a "Taster Day" on Four Acre Estate Local Community Support Officers took an active part on the day. Mike is seen putting participants through the safety and rules of rounders, before having great fun on a grassed area on the estate. Canterbury Belles Training genuinely believe in equal opportunities, working closely with community groups, and their families!!

More than 150 children took part in Rounders taster sessions at Croxteth Festival in Croxteth Park on the 12th July.
Sutton Kersch, the Estate Agents are planning a Charity Rounders Competition with a view to making it an annual event. Proceeds will go to Zoes' Place, the childrens' hospice.
Liverpool PCT have recently held three Taster days at Croxteth Park, Walton Park and Belle Vale. Health visitors and midwives, the healthy living team, and other staff, have all taken part.

Canterbury Belles Training  takes on street games

Canterbury Belles Training recently delivered a Level 1 Coaching course in Hull working with Voices in Play, who work with volunteers in helping young people in sports

'Voices in Play' volunteers in Hull are really revved up for their first ever Street Games Festival, which will include rounders for the first time ever, called 'Hit The Street' it will involve hundreds of local young people. if all goes to plan, Canterbury Belles Training hopes to deliver a N G B Level 2 coaching award, and we are looking to take the game 'to the streets, in a big way, working with 'Street Games', wherever they may be!! Flintshire Schools' Sports Competition 2008

Canterbury Belles Training supplied umpires and volunteers to ensure the smooth running of the Schools Rounders Competition for primary and junior schools.

Ruskin Sports Partnership in Crewe have asked Canterbury Belles Training to deliver a Coaching for Teachers and Tutors course at Crewe Centre of Excellence for Crewe Alexandra football apprentices and local teachers.

New Star Centre

Cheshire has recently completed trials for the first Cheshire Star Centre, based in Chester High School for Girls. They are now looking for competition from other counties. Years 7& 8 and 9s upwards.

Active Parks Programme

SPAA (Sports & Physical Activity Alliance) bosses in Liverpool have pledged £5000 for a second year of support. Taster days will be organised in parks across Liverpool by Canterbury Belles Training and friends of the Parks

 

 

Steve Manning joins Canterbury Belles Training as "Daytime" Development Officer. Delivering quality in rounders means that you need to be able to speak to us to discuss your rounders needs. A retired police officer, Steve is also press & Media Officer for BARLA (British Amateur Rugby League Association). He can arrange to visit you if need be, to discuss your rounders development / coaching needs.

MIke Kennedy, founder of Canterbury Belles Training and former England player Jan Griffiths helped coach the first ever Chinese Rounders team in the inaugural  World Rounders Festival, held in Rotherham on June 28th. Pictured below are the Chinese girls with the England U17 girls, who had great fun on the day.
