| MISS project a bit hit (Mums into something
sporty) Monkstown primary school, in Norris Green,
Liverpool, is leading the way, witha lsomost 20 mums,dads and dinner
ladies, all playing Rounders under the watchful eye of Rachel
Williams, an Edge Hill University trainee teacher, who is also
getting invaluable experienc in a school setting. Two other schools
in the area, Mabb Lane and St Mathews are hoping to get started
soon. Great news for family rounders in an inner city setting!!

Belles Training coaching in Gambia
Mike Kennedy said "After winning the St Helens & District
Council's Coach of the Year Award in 2006, the next step for me was
to complete my 1st 4 Sport Level 3 Certificate in Tutoring Sport,
which I completed in 2008. Since then , I have worked with a vats
range of players and coaches, all over the country, and two

Cheshire helping the locals enjoy theri new game.
"The newly formed "Valley Belles" of Alt Valley, Liverpool
invited the football players of Copperas Hill Football Club, to a
challenge game, at The Scargreen Carnival, in Norris Green,
Liverpool. The carnival had not been held in Norris Green for quite
a few years, but Local Organisers pressed ahead, and a great time
was had by all!!

| 2009 will see two new teams enter the St Helens & District
League, "Valley Belles", is a team born from indoor Rounders
and Taster sessions, funded by Liverpool Active City. "Halton
Lady Vikings" from the Pavillions club in Cheshire, based on a
team of amateur Rugby League players, who love sport, and want to
enter their team into the same St Helens league. The ladies have
been awarded the "Club Mark" by Halton Sports Development, so their
good practice has been rewarded. |
John Moores University has renewed it's agreement with
Canterbury Belles Training, for the training of this year's 50 second year students.

have recently teamed up with Brenda Mortimore, a Personal
Fitness Instructor, who runs a Fitness & Health lifestyle

Helena Partnership of St Helens have been susccessful in their
bid , with
Canterbury Belles Training ,
working closeley with the tennants and Residents' asssocsiation to deliver 96 sessions over 4
areas, including the training up of local residents to become
qualified Rounders Coaches.

Helena Partnership, in Mike's hometown, St Helens
recently held a "Taster Day" on Four Acre Estate Local Community
Support Officers took an active part on the day. Mike is seen
putting participants through the safety and rules of rounders,
before having great fun on a grassed area on the estate.

community groups, and their families!!

Canterbury Belles Training
organised a Charity Rounders tournament at Sutton Park St Helens, raising £350. The locals from the Bowling Green pub
joined in the fun. A BBQ and entertainment followed. Thanks to Karl
and Sue, mine hosts. See

residents avoided the rain showers to put on a super show of
Rounders in their local park. Dog walkers and joggers alike all
stopped to watch the fun unfold.

| More than 150 children took part in Rounders taster sessions at
Croxteth Festival in Croxteth Park on the 12th July. |
| Liverpool PCT have recently held three Taster days at Croxteth
Park, Walton Park and Belle Vale. Health visitors and midwives, the
healthy living team, and other staff, have all taken part. From
these taster days, the Valley Belles ( see above) were formed. |

takes on street games
Canterbury Belles Training
recently delivered a Level 1 Coaching
course in Hull working with Voices in Play, who work with volunteers in
helping young people in sports
'Voices in Play' volunteers in Hull are really revved up
for their first ever Street Games Festival, which will include rounders
for the first time ever, called 'Hit The Street' it will involve
hundreds of local young people. if all goes to plan, Canterbury Belles
Training hopes to deliver a N G B Level 2 coaching award, and we are
looking to take the game 'to the streets, in a big way, working with
'Street Games', wherever they may be!! Pictured are the volunteers, in

Canterbury Belles Training to deliver a
Coaching for Teachers and Tutors course at Crewe Centre of Excellence
for Crewe Alexandra football apprentices and local teachers.

New Star Centre
Cheshire Star Centre have successfully their first year
in 2008,and are
now looking for competition from other counties. Years 7& 8 and 9s
upwards.

the inaugural World Rounders Festival, held in Rotherham on
June 28th. Pictured below are the Chinese girls with the England U17
girls, who had great fun on
the day.
