Darren Jones - A Success Story

I have worked with Mike many times, both coaching Rounders at various festivals in Liverpool, such as the ‘Active Parks Programme’ or as a student in the Level 1 and 2 Rounders course.

I am extremely grateful to be given such opportunities that have helped me develop as a PE teacher. These types of experiences have been mutually beneficial over the years and helped me gain employment at Oakwood High School in Salford. The school was impressed with my commitment to developing myself through additional coaching qualifications and vital experience in the community. For these reasons, I will forever be grateful to Mike and the work he does.

If I could give advice to any young person either wanting to become a PE Teacher or working to develop sports in the community, it is to take advantage of the opportunities that Mike provides in Canterbury Belles Training. He is always looking for enthusiastic and committed people. I am confident these will make you more employable and provide experiences with a range of young people.

Thanks Mike

Darren Jones

" I met Mike Kennedy at the age of 13-14 at a school Rounders competition. I was asked by him to join Canterbury Belles. I played for this fantastic team for two seasons. Mike and I had a well bonded relationship throughout my time spent with the team. The team always offered support to me and all the members were like a huge family.

The club is always striving to achieve the best and has always been open to new players and new approaches. They are a very successful team and I am glad my first steps to a successful Rounders career were with them. Canterbury Belles were the building blocks of my sporting career. I have been able to return to them after many years of sports with open arms. I couldn't think of a better club to play at"

“Having known Mike for over 5 years now, I find his passion and enthusiasm for rounders and sport in general is infectious.   Mike delivers both with our curriculum, and as part of LJMU’s coach education programme, both are vital if students are to do well, and have a knowledge of a variety of sports.  What I really like about Mike the commitment he shows to our students, he is always willing to include them in project work both paid and voluntary and has on a number of occasions helped students with interview lesson plans on rounders.  I think by the fact that after students leave us at LJMU they still contact Mike for help with rounders, which is testament itself to him.”
